Seniors Day Out
Isolation and inactivity can rob our elderly of a sense of purpose and the chance to truly thrive in the communities they call home. This isolation can be painful and often causes the elderly to abandon the very activities that once filled them with joy and purpose, eroding their physical, mental, and emotional health. This diminished quality of life can be devastating for our older loved ones, and it’s the reason that Housing with Hope developed our Seniors Day Out Program.
Our Seniors Day Out Program provides seniors with program opportunities at several facilities and offers the chance for them to engage in unique activities and create connections with other seniors and community members.
In partnership with local organizations, here are some of the daily programs our seniors enjoy:
- Monthly Breakfast “Plus” – join All Saints’ Episcopal Church for a free breakfast on the first Tuesday of each month.
- Monthly gatherings on the third Monday of each month – Featuring a different activity each month, for example, art class, chair yoga, bingo, holiday celebrations, and informational seminars. Refreshments are served.
- Serenity Chi class on the last Friday of each month – A one-hour class that incorporates tai chi, qi-gong, and meditation/mindfulness to alleviate stress and anxiety and bring peace, balance, and serenity. This class is taught by Master Ed Anderson, Lena, Brenda & Charlie.
- Sponsored access to JCC of Central Jersey’s Adult Enrichment program in Scotch Plains, NJ and FANWOOD-SCOTCH PLAINS YMCA programs, classes and amenities.
